Sentencing and Punishment of Youth Philosophical and legal foundations, objectives and process of sentencing and punishment of young offenders in Western societies. Gaps between sentencing theory and practice, and issues such as the roles of plea bargaining, mitigating and aggravating factors, victims, and adult sentences for youth. Seminar, 3 hours per week. Restriction: Open to CHYS (single or combined) and CHYS BA (Honours)/BEd (Primary/Junior) majors with approval to year 4 (honours). Prerequisite(s): CHYS 3P39 or 3Q91 (3P40). Note: CHYS 3P39 recommended. This course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term.
