Words on Words: Narratives of Language (também oferecido como ENGL 4P15) História crítica do estudo da linguagem de Sócrates a Saussure e depois. Teorias da natureza e origem da linguagem; as relações entre realidade, linguagem e pensamento, incluindo a relação entre teorias linguísticas e representação literária em vários períodos históricos. Seminário, 3 horas por semana. Restrição: aberto a majors ENCW (isolados ou combinados), ENGL (isolados ou combinados), ENGL (Honours)/BEd (Intermediate/Senior), WRDS (isolados ou combinados), ALTS, APLI (isolados ou combinados), BCMN, COMM, HEAR, MCMN e SPLS (isolados ou combinados) com aprovação para o ano 4 (honours) ou permissão do docente e do Presidente. Observação: este curso pode ser oferecido em múltiplos modos de entrega. O método de entrega será indicado no horário acadêmico, no período aplicável. A conclusão deste curso substituirá a nota anteriormente atribuída e o crédito obtido em WRIT 4P15. *

Theories of the nature and origin of language; the relations among reality, language, and thought, including the relationship between linguistic theories and literary representation in several historical periods. Seminar, 3 hours per week.
