Sociology of Criminal Justice (also offered as SOCI 2P62 ) Analysis of the criminal justice system (courts, policing and punishment), and the encroachment of criminal justice approaches into other sectors, such as migration control and healthcare. Interactions between criminal justice, social inequality and settler colonialism. Critical perspectives on the social construction of law, problematics of policing and enforcement, crime, and criminalization. Lectures, 3 hours per week. Restriction: open to CRIM, SOCI (single or combined) majors, CRIM, CRAS and SOCI minors until date specified in Registration guide. Prerequisite(s): CRIM 1P90 and 1P91 (1F90). Note: this course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term. #
