橫跨顯生宙的大滅絕、微觀與巨觀演化過程、長期趨勢與循環；功能形態學；無脊椎動物於生物地層學、古海洋學與古湖泊學的應用。課程可能包含一至兩週之野外教學，費用由學生負擔。
