課程說明
波的類型與經典波動方程式，二維與三維的波函數，反射與折射，波的重疊、偏振、干涉、繞射、相干、波包。溫度與熱力學平衡，熱、功與熱力學第一定律，熵與熱力學第二定律。
先修條件
- 先修科目：PHYS 1001 與 PHYS 1002，或 PHYS 1003 與 PHYS 1004（若提供平均最低成績 B-，亦接受 PHYS 1007 與 PHYS 1008）；外加 MATH 1004 與 MATH 1104 或 MATH 2152，及 MATH 2004 或 MATH 2001（MATH 2001 或 MATH 2004 可同時修習）。
條件與方式
- 不予計算學分：不予計算學分之課程為 PHYS 2202。
- 先修科目：PHYS 1001 與 PHYS 1002，或 PHYS 1003 與 PHYS 1004（若提供平均最低成績 B-，亦接受 PHYS 1007 與 PHYS 1008）；外加 MATH 1004 與 MATH 1104 或 MATH 2152，及 MATH 2004 或 MATH 2001（MATH 2001 或 MATH 2004 可同時修習）。
- 每週三小時講課。

Types of waves and the classical wave equation, wave functions in 2 and 3 dimensions, reflection and refraction, superposition of waves, polarization, interference, diffraction, coherence, wave packets. Temperature and thermodynamic equilibrium, heat, work and first law of thermodynamics, entropy and second law of thermodynamics.
- Prerequisite(s): PHYS 1001 and PHYS 1002 , or PHYS 1003 and PHYS 1004 ( PHYS 1007 and PHYS 1008 are also acceptable provided a minimum average grade of B- is presented); plus MATH 1004 and MATH 1104 or MATH 2152 , and MATH 2004 or MATH 2001 ( MATH 2001 or MATH 2004 may be taken concurrently).

- Lectures three hours a week
