11世紀から16世紀にかけてのヨーロッパ、アジア、アフリカにまたがる中世のグローバル社会の歴史を、“接続の時代”として扱う――通信、協力、対立が拡大する過程。学生は翻訳された様々な中世資料を読む。（Field a）。
