世界の生物群系の入門と、北米の主要生態系（北方林、温帯林、ツンドラ、草原、湿地および水域を含む）の特性と分布の詳細な分析。気候変動、農業管理、林業、都市生態学など、生態系科学と保全に関する現在の課題。
