The French Revolution Contested Debates about the French Revolution and its European impact (1788-1815) focusing on those about its origins, its role in the development of European political culture and its impact on the experience of women and the poor. Topics include the failure of the constitutional monarchy, the impact of war and the counter-revolution. Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week.
