Description
Introduction to Finite Element Analysis Differences between the Classical and Matrix methods of structural analysis and the difference between the flexibility and stiffness matrix methods. Techniques to utilize computer programming to analyze structures with an unlimited number of structural indeterminacies. The matrix formulation of the force, the displacement methods of analysis, the direct stiffness approach, the finite-element method analysis and its computer applications. Use of the Finite Element Analysis in engineering practice. Lecture, 3 hours per week. Restriction: open to BEng majors only with a minimum 16 overall credits.
