Description
Quantum Chemistry Schrodinger equation, solution of the harmonic oscillator problem, hydrogen atom, angular momentum theory, variational method with applications to atomic and molecular systems, molecular orbital theory and simple group theory. Classical quantum experiments include Young’s double slit experiment, photoelectric effect, and DNA structure elucidation. Lectures, 3 hours per week; lab, 2 hours per week; tutorial, 1 hour per week. Prerequisite(s): CHEM 2P12 . Note: this course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery.
