Description
Youth and the Justice System Multidisciplinary perspectives in understanding youth in conflict with the law. Role of macro factors in the commission of offences, including unemployment, systemic discrimination based upon gender, race and sexuality, and media constructions of youth. Lectures, seminar, 3 hours per week. Restriction: open to CHYS (single or combined), CHYS BA (Honours)/BEd (Primary/Junior) and CHHS, CHLH majors, FPAC until date specified in Registration guide. After that date open to CHYS (single or combined), CHYS BA (Honours)/BEd (Primary/Junior), CHHS, CHLH majors, FPAC , GHUM and SOSC students until date specified in Registration guide. Students must have a minimum of 8.0 overall credits. Prerequisite(s): CHYS 2P38 or SOCI 2P38 . Note: this course may be offered in multiple modes of delivery. The method of delivery will be listed on the academic timetable, in the applicable term. Completion of this course will replace previous assigned grade and credit obtained in CHYS 3P40.
