On 2 October 2026 the University of Windsor and the Town of Tecumseh finalized a five‑year memorandum of understanding to connect academic expertise with local priorities. The agreement enables faculty, researchers and students to engage in community‑focused projects that offer hands‑on learning and applied research experience. Initial areas mentioned include improving municipal services, environmental stewardship and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. The MOU also establishes pathways for pursuing research funding and expanding placements or project‑based learning opportunities linked to university programs. University President Dr. J.J. McMurtry and Mayor McNamara are named as proponents of the initiative.
