UQAM launches mobile research unit to boost youth physical activity (17 October 2026)
On 17 October 2026 UQAM’s EnJeuLab launched a mobile research unit — the network’s third outdoor lab — to study and promote physical activity among youth, including those from vulnerable backgrounds and with neurodevelopmental disorders. A fourth facility at UQAM’s Sports Centre is planned for Jan. 2027.
The mobile unit, led by Professor Mariève Blanchet and developed by EnJeuLab, debuted 17 October 2026 in Boisbriand. Built from a transportable container that can be disassembled and reassembled on different sites, it offers unstructured environments to encourage participation, collaboration and creativity among young people. EnJeuLab already operates outdoor labs in Bromont and Waterloo (opened 2025) and will open a Centre en mouvement at UQAM’s Sports Centre in January 2027, equipping it with research tools such as the 1080 Quantum Syncro.
