Source publication : 2026-10-15 · Brock University

Rumman Rafiq (Brock Business Administration) credits co‑op placements—including an eight‑month role at BlackBerry—for shifting to HR. She began a one‑year internship with the Ontario Provincial Police on Oct. 5, 2026.

Rumman Rafiq arrived at Brock University in 2022 from Bangladesh and will graduate at the Oct. 16, 2026 convocation. An eight‑month co‑op in Talent Development at BlackBerry gave her practical HR experience—she helped redesign the global HR SharePoint and led employee training—prompting her to change her major to Human Resources. Subsequent roles with the Ontario Public Service deepened her experience in performance tools, workforce planning and event management. After a four‑month recruitment process for the Ontario Internship Program, she started a one‑year placement in People and Business Strategy at the OPP General Headquarters in Orillia on Oct. 5, 2026.
