Eric Sprott donates $10M to the University of Sherbrooke to fund Alzheimer’s and brain‑aging research led by Professor Stephen Cunnane and to strengthen researcher training.

The University of Sherbrooke received a $10‑million donation from Eric Sprott to accelerate research on Alzheimer’s disease and brain aging. The funding will primarily support work by Professor Stephen Cunnane (Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences) on ketotherapeutics and metabolic aspects of cognitive aging, and aims to clarify mechanisms underlying neurocognitive decline. The gift will also bolster training for early‑career researchers, enhance collaboration among the university’s teams and the Centre de recherche sur le vieillissement, and help translate findings into evidence‑based prevention approaches.
