Source publication : 2026-11-03 · Radio-Canada — Nouveau-Brunswick

A bill introduced on November 3, 2026 would amend the University of Moncton Act to permit more four‑year bachelor’s programs to be delivered fully at the Edmundston and Shippagan campuses. The first additional bachelor announced is in business administration; a full primary education degree is also under study. The change aims to increase local opportunities and reduce youth outmigration. The bill is at first reading.

On November 3, 2026 the provincial government tabled legislation to remove restrictions that currently reserve most four‑year bachelor’s programs for the University of Moncton’s main Moncton campus. The university and its academic senate approved the proposal in June. The business administration bachelor will be the first program offered entirely at the regional campuses; delivery will include at least some online courses and may require new faculty hires. A full bachelor in primary education is being considered. The bill remains at first reading before the legislature.
