McGill students run 125 km and raise $150,000 for pet therapy at Montreal Children’s Hospital

Source publication : 2026-10-13 · McGill University

Three McGill-affiliated students ran 125 km on August 22 as Miles for Minds and raised $150,000 to fund the Montreal Children’s Hospital pet therapy program.

On August 22, Lorenzo Accurso (first‑year medical student at McGill), Matteo Iasenza (B.Eng. 2025) and Dylan Beauchamp (B.A. spring 2026; now a first‑year law student at McGill) completed a 125‑kilometre community run for Miles for Minds. Starting at midnight and lasting about 20 hours, the event drew hundreds of participants, volunteers and local businesses that provided food and support. The format allowed people to join for any distance; an RV and waypoints guided participants. The run raised $150,000 for the Montreal Children’s Hospital pet therapy program, bringing the initiative’s two‑year total to nearly $300,000.
