Université Laval honours body donors — 44 people remembered at ceremony on 30 September 2026
On 30 September 2026, Université Laval’s Faculty of Medicine and the Apprentiss team honoured 44 individuals who donated their bodies to science; nearly 70 people, including families and students, attended the ceremony at Centre du Plateau.
The ceremony held at Centre du Plateau on 30 September 2026 commemorated 44 individuals who chose body donation to support medical teaching. Nearly 70 attendees — family members, faculty leaders, student associations and anatomy lab staff — took part. Symbolic gestures such as the presentation of candles, signed cards and the handing over of urns were made; about ten urns were later interred in Université Laval’s plot at Notre‑Dame‑de‑Belmont cemetery. Dean Marie Arsenault, lab codirectors and students including Lara Guay emphasized the lasting pedagogical value of these gifts.
