Brock launches Canada’s first English-language Master of Athletic Therapy with hands-on placements
Brock University's Master of Athletic Therapy (MAT), Canada’s first English-language athletic therapy master’s, has begun placements for its inaugural cohort. The program includes five placements over 24 months and readies graduates for the national certification exam; applications close Nov. 15, 2026.
Brock’s MAT combines academic coursework with immersive clinical training. Launched in May 2026, the inaugural cohort is undertaking its first placements: students complete five clinical rotations across 24 months in clinics, high schools, universities, junior hockey and professional sport settings in the Golden Horseshoe and the nearby Buffalo/Niagara area. The degree makes graduates eligible to sit the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association National Certification Examination. The program is expanding placement opportunities in Canada, the U.S. and Ireland, incorporates technologies such as Kactis.AI, and will welcome a second cohort with applications open until Nov. 15, 2026, for classes starting May 2027.
