McGill’s Sustainability Projects Fund backs 28 student-led projects in FY2026

Source publication : 2026-11-04 · McGill University

McGill’s Sustainability Projects Fund (SPF) supported 28 projects in fiscal year 2026, part of over 400 initiatives funded since 2010. Grants range from under $300 to more than $100,000; examples include a Green Chemistry symposium and an $85,000 bird‑safety project.

Managed by McGill’s Office of Sustainability, the SPF provides seed funding for initiatives that build campus sustainability culture. In 2026 most projects were student‑led and all leaders reported meaningful professional development in project management, budgeting and stakeholder engagement. Eligible applicants include students, staff and faculty. Funded activities span small events and publications to long‑term projects, demonstrating both hands‑on learning opportunities and institutional support for sustainability innovation on campus.
