UQAM hosts Social Engagement Fair: local organizations present volunteer and internship opportunities (14 Oct 2026)

Source publication : 2026-10-15 · Université du Québec à Montréal

On 14 October 2026 UQAM hosted the Social Engagement Fair at the J.-A.-DeSève pavilion. About ten Faubourg Saint‑Laurent organizations showcased volunteer and internship opportunities for short, medium and long commitments. The third UQAM edition was organized with the Table de concertation du Faubourg Saint‑Laurent, UQAM’s Service aux collectivités, Action Centre‑Ville and Les petits Frères.

The fair, held 14 October at the J.-A.-DeSève pavilion, connected students with local non‑profits offering regular or occasional volunteer roles and internships of various durations. Professor Valérie Michaud brought roughly twenty students from her ‘Gestion des ressources humaines en OSBL’ course to identify organizational missions, desired skills and recruitment practices in the nonprofit sector. Interactions promoted networking among organizations and students and highlighted the need for HR tools tailored to charities, giving participants practical insight into community engagement and local placements.
