During the public Fossil Fever dig in August at Grasslands National Park, hosted by Parks Canada and the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, a rare thoracosaurus tooth was uncovered. It is the third such find in Saskatchewan (previous finds in 2015 and 2016), suggesting this marine reptile may at times have been present in the region. The discovery was celebrated by Kaitlin Lindblad, a University of Regina PhD student who has studied crocodile fossils for five years; her doctoral research focuses on paleontology in southeast Saskatchewan, including the Frenchman and Hell Creek formations.
