Saint Mary’s establishes accelerated MD pathway with ACSOM — at least 25% scholarship and up to 50 reserved seats

Source publication : 2026-10-14 · news.smu.ca

Saint Mary’s University and the American Canadian School of Medicine (ACSOM, Dominica) agreed on a pathway allowing B.Sc. Biology students to complete three years at Saint Mary’s and then enter ACSOM’s four‑year MD program. Benefits include a scholarship of at least 25% of ACSOM tuition, a possible MCAT waiver for eligible applicants, and up to 50 reserved places per year during the agreement’s first three years. ACSOM holds ACCM and IAAR accreditation.

Eligible students may apply through the pathway and, after completing ACSOM’s first year, receive credits toward their Saint Mary’s B.Sc., enabling graduation while continuing medical studies. ACSOM has committed to reserving up to 50 spots per year for Saint Mary’s pathway students during the agreement’s initial three years. The arrangement includes a minimum scholarship equal to 25% of standard ACSOM tuition and allows qualified applicants to apply without taking the MCAT, subject to the pathway’s academic requirements. ACSOM provides clinical training with North American placements.
