Cégep Marie‑Victorin opens Quebec’s first four‑season outdoor classroom
Cégep Marie‑Victorin has opened a covered outdoor classroom usable year‑round to support practical training for students in early childhood education and special education. Located in one of the college’s gardens, the space is unheated and can be booked by other programs when available (Radio‑Canada, 20 Oct. 2026).
The new covered classroom is designed to bring learning closer to field conditions by enabling practical sessions outdoors. It is primarily used by cohorts in early childhood education and special education, where observation and hands‑on practice in a natural setting are pedagogically valuable. Other programs may reserve the space when it is free. The absence of heating presents constraints during winter months, but the initiative highlights campus innovation and flexible use of facilities to enrich student training.
