From isolation to convocation: Fareeha Fatima graduates from Memorial University (Oct. 15, 2026)

Source publication : 2026-10-14 · Memorial University

Fareeha Fatima, who arrived from Qatar, will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in English, a minor in sociology and a certificate in criminology from Memorial University. A participant in the Limitless Leadership program, she credits campus supports and a Writing Centre job for helping her integrate. Convocation: Oct. 15 at 10 a.m.

Plagued by anxiety upon arrival in St. John’s, Fareeha Fatima gradually built confidence through Memorial’s student services. The Student Wellness and Counselling Centre connected her with ADHD resources and a peer support group. She completed Design Your Life, a Career Services program, and was selected for the inaugural Limitless Leadership cohort. Engagement with the Student Volunteer Bureau and a position at the Writing Centre in her final term helped expand her campus network and career options. She will cross the convocation stage on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m., considering law, teaching, graduate study or policy.
