Lakeland College reopens renovated Bentley Building at Vermilion campus (Oct 2, 2026)

On Oct. 2, 2026, Lakeland College reopened the renovated Newcombe N. Bentley Building, adding studios, makerspaces, 13 flexible classrooms and a smudge‑safe Indigenous lounge. Alberta contributed $13.3M to the $16M project.

On October 2, 2026, Lakeland College celebrated the completion of a major renovation and expansion of the Newcombe N. Bentley Building at its Vermilion campus. The 1969 facility now houses Interior Design Technology and Human Services programs and features 13 flexible classrooms, two interior design studios, a computer lab, makerspaces, student gathering areas and a dedicated smudge‑safe Indigenous lounge. Human Services spaces include counseling practice rooms for Child and Youth Care students, child development observation areas and an outdoor natural playscape for Early Childhood Education. The Government of Alberta provided $13.3 million in 2023 as part of a $16‑million capital investment.
