Brock alumnus wins 2026 community engagement award, strengthening campus–town partnerships
Michael Kirkopoulos (BSc ’00) receives the Brock University Alumni Association Community Engagement Award 2026 for strengthening ties between Brock and the Niagara community via the Brock Lincoln Living Lab (launched 2017).
A Biological Sciences alumnus, Michael Kirkopoulos is now Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Lincoln. His career — including a 1999 internship at Yale and a BSc completed in 2000 — led him into public service and university–municipal collaboration. He received the Brock University Alumni Association Community Engagement Award 2026 for helping found the Brock Lincoln Living Lab in 2017, which connects Brock researchers and students with municipal priorities. The Living Lab creates co‑op placements, course projects and applied research opportunities addressing real town challenges while giving the Town access to Brock expertise.
