Krishna Patel (BSc ’26) and Geoffrey Jensen (BSc ’26) received Governor General’s Silver Medals at Brock University’s 120th Convocation on Oct. 16, 2026. The annual award recognizes the two highest‑standing graduates in a first honours degree and highlights accomplishments in research and professional experience.

Krishna Patel, who also won Brock’s Distinguished Graduating Student Award – Biotechnology in spring, completed an undergraduate thesis in Professor Hongbin Yan’s lab, co‑authored a paper on photoacids and is now pursuing a master’s in Biotechnology at Brock to study more stable photoacids and DNA conformation inside cells. Geoffrey Jensen earned the Dean’s Medal for Mathematics and Science (Honours), competed in programming contests (ICPC, CS Games) and completed three co‑op placements—two with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and one at eleven‑x—which led to a full‑time position after graduation.
