Source publication : 2026-10-06 · paherald.sk.ca

The University of Alberta offers Indigenous Engagement and Partnership Development, a 12‑module MOOC (~12 hours). Module 1 is free; access to the other 11 modules costs $68. Instructors include professors, Elders and community leaders. Registration is open and a credit‑bearing option exists for UAlberta students.

The Faculty of Native Studies developed this MOOC to teach fundamentals and practical skills for ethical collaboration with Indigenous Nations and organizations. Each of the 12 modules features a different instructor — academics, Elders and community practitioners — and moves from understanding land and local histories to Indigenous research methods and partnership practices. Estimated completion time is about 12 hours. The course is open to learners everywhere; University of Alberta students may pay for an extended, credit‑bearing version.
