Spirit of Brock medals awarded to student changemakers at Brock Convocation (16 Oct 2026)
Makayla Finn (BPhEd ’26) and Mario Berro (BSc ’23, MBA ’26) received the Board of Trustees Spirit of Brock medal on Oct. 16, 2026, during Brock University’s 120th Convocation for outstanding student leadership and community impact.
At Brock’s Oct. 16, 2026 convocation, Makayla Finn and Mario Berro were honoured with the Board of Trustees Spirit of Brock medal. Finn served twice as Vice‑President of the Black Student Association, worked with the Black Student Success Centre and, as a 2024 Sprout Ideas Fellow, launched the Black Flourishing Advocacy Initiative. Berro, returning to Brock for an MBA after a BSc, led the Graduate Students’ Association, represented grads on Senate and the Board, and advanced initiatives on financial literacy and food‑security awareness while studying full time.
