Source publication : 2026-10-09 · news.smu.ca

On 9 Oct 2026 Saint Mary’s signed a Medical School Pathway with the American Canadian School of Medicine (Dominica). B.Sc. Biology students complete 3 years at Saint Mary’s then begin a 4‑year MD at ACSOM; eligible applicants may apply without the MCAT; scholarship ≥25%; ACSOM reserves up to 50 places/year for three years.

The Medical School Pathway lets Saint Mary’s B.Sc. Biology students finish three years at Saint Mary’s before starting the MD program at the American Canadian School of Medicine (Dominica). Successful completion of ACSOM’s first year can yield credits toward the Saint Mary’s B.Sc. The agreement includes a scholarship equal to at least 25% of standard ACSOM tuition and, for the first three years of the arrangement, ACSOM will reserve up to 50 annual places for qualified pathway students. ACSOM holds ACCM and IAAR accreditation and readies students for USMLE and Canadian medical exams.
