Brock leaders win Canada’s Clean50 2027 and GHG Reductions Champion awards for campus decarbonization
Three Brock leaders — Scott Johnstone, Mary Quintana and Drew Cullen — received Canada’s Clean50 2027 (Building) and the Clean50 GHG Reductions Champion Award for campus decarbonization work.
Scott Johnstone (VP Administration & Services), Mary Quintana (Associate VP, Facilities Management) and Drew Cullen (Director of Utilities and Services) were recognized for leading major campus decarbonization projects. Efforts include rebuilding the cogeneration plant, electrifying a District Energy System and deploying the blackPAC energy dashboard, turning Brock into a living laboratory. Projects have cut campus emissions by 67%, avoided $5 million in future carbon costs and protected $1.7 billion in campus assets. The three‑year SPARK program targets an 83% greenhouse‑gas reduction by 2028 (2013 baseline) and a 60% cut in energy use.
