From a job fair to assistant custodial coordinator: Benjamin Lebi’s McMaster story
Benjamin Lebi moved from Nigeria in 2024 and built a career at McMaster, rising from food services to assistant custodial coordinator while taking training and contributing to campus life and cultural projects.
After arriving in Hamilton in 2024, Lebi attended a 2024 Hospitality Services job fair, began in food services, worked as an exam invigilator and moved into residence custodial roles. In April he became an assistant custodial coordinator, overseeing assignments, staff training and campus residence readiness for move‑in and conferences. He completed continuous improvement training and the Personal Leaders Program, served on the Healthy Workplace Committee, attended the Inspire from Within conference, and will start a project management course in October. Outside work he photographs campus architecture and creates Edo‑language educational content.
