UQAM’s Design Pavilion honored with the Prix du XXe siècle and celebrated with a new book
On October 7, UQAM marked the Prix du XXe siècle (awarded in April by the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada) granted to its Design Pavilion—the first academic building so honored—and launched the book Le pavillon de Design de l’UQAM.
The October 7 celebration brought together faculty and leaders—including Isaac Bazié, Flora Junca‑Adenot, Thomas‑Bernard Kenniff and Patrick Evans—to recognize the pavilion’s architectural and sustainable qualities; the building was inaugurated in 1995 and awarded in April. Authors Jean‑Pierre Hardenne, France Vanlaethem and Gilles Prud’homme presented the new book, with photographs by Michel Brunelle and Arseni Khamzin and graphic design by Supersystème (Marie‑France Gaudet, Eveline Lupien). A commemorative plaque was unveiled and a 1:50 scale model made by students for the School’s 50th anniversary (2024) was displayed.
