University of Waterloo appoints Dr. Ruibing Wang as Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair to advance cell‑based nanomedicines
Waterloo will welcome Dr. Ruibing Wang as the Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair in Supramolecular Biomaterials; he is set to join the Faculty of Engineering in April 2027. An established nanomedicine researcher with over 300 publications and 16,000+ citations, Wang will develop reversible host‑guest approaches to attach nanomedicines to patient cells and train students in translating lab discoveries toward real‑world use.
Dr. Ruibing Wang, coming from the University of Macau, was named an Eddie Goldenberg Research Chair at Waterloo and will arrive in April 2027. His group focuses on reversible host‑guest chemistry to functionalize immune cells, platelets and red blood cells with nanomedicines—enhancing therapeutic function without genetic modification. The program aims to shorten development times, reduce costs and enable adaptable cell‑based therapies, while providing training and entrepreneurial pathways for students involved in translational research.
