Algonquin learners win inaugural GLIP with NoiseGuard Pro wearable dosimeter (22 Oct 2026)
Algonquin learners Hailun Song and Aysil Hasan, with teammate Dylan Schmidt (Mechanical Engineering, Carleton), won the inaugural General’s Lab Innovation Program on 22 Oct 2026 with NoiseGuard Pro, a clip‑on dosimeter designed to prevent occupational hearing loss. The team receives three months of venture‑building mentorship from Highline Beta.
On 22 October 2026, Hailun Song (Construction Engineering Technician, Algonquin) and Aysil Hasan (BSc Building Science), together with Dylan Schmidt (Mechanical Engineering, Carleton), led the winning NoiseGuard Pro project at the GLIP final, an Ontario General Contractors Association initiative with postsecondary partners. Built over eight months with industry mentorship, the prototype is a discreet clip‑on sensor that detects hazardous noise exposure in real time and alerts the wearer to help prevent noise‑induced hearing loss. The prize includes three months of advisory support from venture studio Highline Beta.
