Memorial to host 'Women+ in Academia' workshop on Oct. 16, 2026 to build mentorship and inclusion

Source publication : 2026-10-13 · Memorial University

On Oct. 16, 2026 Memorial University will hold 'Women+ in Academia' (in-person and virtual), a workshop on mentorship, health, leadership and practical solutions for women, non-binary and gender-diverse academics.

Women+ in Academia: Building Community and Shaping Change brings faculty, postdoctoral researchers and administrators together to address barriers across career stages. The program features panels on career journeys, women’s health, leadership and solution-building, lunchtime table talks on research funding and mentorship, and keynote addresses by Dr. Aimée Morrison (University of Waterloo) and Jennifer Gillivan (IWK Foundation, virtual). Supported partly by the Government of Canada’s Research Support Fund and several Memorial faculties and schools, the workshop aims to foster networks, mentorship connections and actionable campus recommendations.
