Plasmattaque (Nov 2–14, 2026): Université Laval mobilizes students for plasma donations
From Nov 2–14, 2026 Université Laval and the student group Héma‑Campus run Plasmattaque, an interuniversity challenge to raise awareness and increase plasma donations in Quebec. University community members can book appointments at Héma‑Québec centres in Sainte‑Foy, Lebourgneuf or Lévis and mention Plasmattaque when donating.
Led by medical student Marianne Gagnon and Héma‑Campus, the campaign aims to recruit younger regular plasma donors by leveraging campus proximity to donation centres and extended opening hours. Plasma apheresis takes about 45 minutes and can be donated as often as every six days, allowing multiple contributions during the Nov 2–14 challenge. Plasma supports transfusions and the manufacture of critical plasma‑derived medicines. The campaign highlights volunteer engagement opportunities on campus and the tangible impact a donor can have for patients with rare diseases or weakened immunity.
