Durham College to offer pre‑assessment of transfer credits before acceptance (Winter 2027)

Source publication : 2026-10-14 · Durham College

From Winter 2027, Durham College will provide eligible applicants with an unofficial pre‑assessment of potential transfer credits before they accept an offer and pay their tuition deposit. The college also removes the transfer application fee for students beginning programs in Winter 2027 and thereafter.

Durham College’s new credit transfer pre‑assessment lets Transfer Services review post‑secondary transcripts submitted via OCAS and indicate, when a Durham equivalency exists, which courses may qualify for credit before admission is finalized. Applicants receiving a pre‑assessment get early visibility on possible credit reductions, helping planning and course selection. Courses lacking an established equivalency will still undergo individual review, and all such reviews are exempt from the former application fee. A final, official assessment occurs after a student accepts their offer and pays the non‑refundable tuition deposit; approved credits are then recorded on the academic record.
