Awards: $80,000/year for four years; inaugural cohort in September 2027; applications to be announced.

The Presidents’ Impact Scholarship Program commits $100 million to build interdisciplinary PhD cohorts focused on an annual research theme (e.g., AI and Health). Each year the University will select 12 or more doctoral scholars from Canada and abroad; recipients receive $80,000 per year for four years, are co‑supervised by two faculty from different disciplines and take part in an external engagement placement (industry, government or international). The launch is enabled by a $50M anonymous gift matched by the university. A call for applications will be issued; the first cohort starts September 2027.
