Wesmen (University of Winnipeg) lean on veteran roster and leadership ahead of 2026–27 season
The University of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s basketball team enters 2026–27 with a more veteran lineup; the season opens Oct. 23 in Brandon. Fifth‑year guard Raia Guinto says she is ready to lead again.
The Wesmen, having recorded 17 wins in the past three seasons, hope experience will translate to better results in 2026–27. Fifth‑year guard Raia Guinto, now in a stronger mental place, returns as a team leader. Fourth‑year forwards Jazmin Birch and Jennifer Kallon and second‑year guard Jennifer Edwards add front‑court and backcourt depth. Interim head coach Robyn Boulanger—a member of the program’s 2022–23 contender squad—notes improved cohesion among veteran players. The first game is scheduled for Oct. 23 in Brandon, framing the year as a step forward rather than a rebuild.
