ESL/English Language Studies Program
The ESL/English Language Studies Program has been designed for the international learner who needs to acquire English Language skills for direct entry into full-time programs at Conestoga College. The student will find this program the best way to acquire the needed English language skills.
Each student who does not have proof of a 550 TOEFL with a TWE of 4.5 score or equivalent proof will be tested upon arrival at the College. Dependent upon the results of the test and in consultation with an academic advisor, the student will be placed into the appropriate starting level of the ESL/English Language Studies Program. There are four levels of study. The first two levels concentrate on communication, grammar, conversation, listening comprehension, reading and writing skills. This pattern of topics continues in level three and four with the addition of academic listening and note taking. In levels three and four, the student will be allowed to take up to two academic credits from the program of study he/she selected. Upon successful completion of level four the student will have met the English requirement for most college programs.
International students are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 Canadian by the date indicated in their letters of acceptance to confirm their agreement and to reserve a place in their selected program. The remainder of the full fees (tuition, and incidental fees such as student activity, health insurance coverage, identification card, technology fee, etc.) are payable by the date specified. If the confirmation deposit and full fees are not received by the dates indicated, the student will forfeit the reserved program place and lose the non-refundable deposit.
International students who are unable to complete visa arrangements in time for the start of classes will be able to transfer the deposit and fee payment to another start date, if places are available, or receive a refund of the entire amount.
Conestoga College offers a free pickup service for students who arrive at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. If requested, the College will also arrange housing for international students.

ACCOUNTING
Business Administration Accounting is one of five Business Administration programs at Conestoga College. The others specialize in Financial Planning, Management Studies, Marketing and Materials Management. All Conestoga Business Administration programs, and the two year General Business program, share a similar first year curriculum, which not only provides you with a solid foundation in business, but also affords you the opportunity to transfer.
As a student in this diploma program, you will study in the Centre for Business Education at the Doon Campus. You will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to start your career in an intermediate accounting position. Advanced financial accounting, managerial skills, and cost accounting systems and controls are emphasized.
You will learn computer skills in up to date labs, gaining familiarity with current versions of software used in business software such as Microsoft Office Suite, ACCPAC Plus and ACCPAC Simply Accounting.
FINANCIAL PLANNING
This program provides the financial planning knowledge to prepare students for careers in the financial services sector, which includes banking, trust, insurance, investment funds, brokers and financial planning. Students are required to attempt the Canadian Securities Institute examinations. Successful completion of the Canadian Securities course, the Professional Financial Planning course, and the Wealth Management course with the Canadian Securities institute will allow students to acquire the professional designation F.M.A. (Financial Management Advisor). Successful completion of the program and successful completion of the three (3) Canadian Securities Institute courses will allow students to challenge the C.F.P. (Certified Financial Planner) final examination.
MARKETING
Marketing is a high-growth area. Marketing skills are applied daily in all areas - business, industry, government and service organizations.
Business Administration - Marketing is one of five Business Administration programs at Conestoga College. The others specialize in Accounting, Financial Planning, Management Studies and Materials Management. All Conestoga Business Administration programs, and the two-year General Business program, share a similar first-year curriculum, which not only provides you with a solid foundation in business, but also affords you the opportunity to transfer.

Computer Programmer
Gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes you need to be a programmer in a business-oriented, computer environment. The program focuses on an object-oriented approach, effective communications, and the use of current technology. Support courses are provided which enhance the student\'s general knowledge in such areas as mathematics, accounting and communications. Problem solving skills are developed using a variety of computer languages. Web based hardware and software is explored in order to fully appreciate the complexities of the Internet world, with specific emphasis on web based applications. The development of computerized solutions to common business problems is stressed throughout the program. In the final semester, small groups design and implement an E-commerce Business Application for use by companies in the region.
Graphic Design
Study two-dimensional traditional design techniques, including letterform, typography, photography, and rendering and illustration. Learn printing production procedures, client presentation techniques and business practices. In year one students study traditional techniques and introduction to electronic design methods
In years two and three traditional design skills are integrated with advanced computer design techniques. Extensive practical work in graphic design lab is featured.

Effective January 1, 2005, a baccalaureate in nursing will be the minimum requirement for nursing registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Conestoga College, Mohawk College and McMaster University are working together to meet this new requirement.
Through this consortium arrangement, Conestoga College offers new nursing curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) degree.
Students accepted to Conestoga\'s Nursing Program will take all four years of study at the Doon Campus in Kitchener. Graduates of the program will receive a degree from McMaster University
Paramedic
In the Paramedic program, you will gain the skills and knowledge to practice emergency pre hospital medical care. As an integral member of the health care team assisting victims of accident or illness, safely transporting patients, and, if needed, continuing emergency treatment after arrival at a health care centre.
At the College, clinical placement at a hospital and through field placement with an ambulance service, you will learn to assess emergency patient care needs, based on factors such as condition, severity, age, stress and anxiety. Effective communication skills are emphasized so that you will be able to function productively with patients, bystanders and other members of the health care team. You will also learn the rules and procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of an emergency vehicle.
If you are unsure of your career goal, or would like to improve your academic level and chances of success prior to entering Paramedic, you may want to consider the General Arts and Science program Health Option.
Note: this is an oversubscribed program and students living outside of Ontario are not eligible.

The Integrated Advanced Manufacturing Technologies (IAMT) program is a new four year Applied Degree that offers over 3000 hours of applied learning and practical projects. It is geared to motivated individuals looking for challenging careers in the dynamic and growing advanced manufacturing industry.
The IAMT program combines up-to-date theory with practical hands-on training and real world experience. It offers the best of conventional classroom delivery with applied projects, industrial case studies, and co-op work terms. Throughout the four years of study, students will also apply their acquired technical skills to relevant business issues. Graduates of the program will be prepared to assume leadership roles in the critical manufacturing disciplines of product design, process design, process control, and business.
