Location

The 100 acre Trinity Western University campus is located in the Frazer Valley amid some of the most beautiful scenery in North America. The climate is moderate all year long because of the warm gentle breezes of the Pacific Ocean.

Academic English & University Entrance

Academic English & University Entrance is available for academically qualified students. English Only acceptance is also available.

Faculty

More than 85% of the full-time faculty hold doctorates.

Academic Preparation for University Entrance:

TWU ESLI prepares students for successful entrance into the TWU degree program. No Toefl required of ESLI who complete the advanced level and who have the recommendation of the ESLI director and faculty.

Communication Program

A communication program is provided on the Langley campus to strengthen English conversation and communication skills. It is taught in one-month units and focuses on pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in the context of listening and speaking. A student will attend this program if:

A. the student wants to improve their English communication skills while experiencing university campus life, but does not plan to enter the university credit degree program.

B. the student arrives too late in the term (after the sixth week) to enter the university entrance academic program, but plans to transfer to that program at the beginning of the next semester.

Transfer students from the Communications program to the Academic Preparation program must first write a test to determine their academic English level.

Student Body

There are over 2,200 students who enroll and enjoy life and Trinity Western University. The breakdown of nationalities at TWU is as follows:

Canada - 77%
USA - 10%
Other Countries - 13%

Residential Living

 Generally, dorm rooms are for two people and come equipped with comfortable beds, desks and chairs, dressers, bookcases, and a closet. Students have access for a dorm lounge for meetings, studying or social occasions. Larger lounges have ping-pong and pool tables and vending machines. Students are encouraged to participate in the social, cultural and spiritual life of residential living. A post office box in the student centre is available.

Dining Hall

The TWU Dining Hall is housed in the newly completed Student Centre. Twenty meals a week are served in the TWU cafeteria.

Homestays

TWU ESLI students may elect to live with a Canadian family host family. TWU ESLI staff carefully screen and select your family and will provide you with a host family profile before you leave home.

Activities and Attractions

Language is learned best when one understands the culture. Culture is learned in the classroom and by participating in activities outside of the classroom. TWU ESLI students spend time with each other and the faculty and staff outside the classroom learning to play, relax and experience Canadian life.

Three full-day field trips, tours or activities occur each term. They are carefully planned to give the students a balance of exercise, education, culture, recreation, and academic and informal learning.
