University Transfer Programs
The University Transfer Program will be of interest to students who seek transfer to a degree program at a Canadian or American university. Most students elect to transfer after completing 30 credits (first year) at Columbia College. Thus, while a full range of second year courses is accredited for transfer, individual courses will be offered only if there is sufficient demand.
Most first year arts and Social Science courses are introductory and require no pre-requisite in the subject area. All Science courses have secondary level science pre-requisites. University courses earn three or six credits, and a full semester course load will involve 12 or 15 credits. A minimum of two semesters will be required to be eligible to transfer to the second year of an undergraduate degree program at a Canadian or American university.

Engineering
Students intending to study Engineering at a Canadian university may study a set of courses at the first-year level at Columbia College that will allow them to apply to second year at UBC and other Canadian universities. At least 27 credits must normally be completed before the end of April. Deadline for application to UBC is March 31st.
Business
Students intending to major in business at either Simon Fraser University or the University of British Columbia can take thirty credits of university level courses at Columbia College and then apply for admission to second year at university. Senior Secondary
Columbia College offers a Senior Secondary Program \"The Graduation Years\", a combined Grades 11 and 12 program that fully conforms to the B.C. Ministry of Education requirements. The College\'s semester system allows for some decrease in the time normally required to complete \"The Graduation Years\". Full Grade 11 and 12 requirements may be completed in 4 semesters (16 months).
Students receiving transfer standing credit for classes taken prior to attending Columbia College can expect to finish in 2 to 3 semesters.
New students may be required to write an English Placement test. Students who place below the English 11 level should expect to take a minimum of 4 semesters to complete the full Senior Secondary Program. This time may be reduced if transfer standing credit is granted.
A British Columbia Graduation Diploma, the Dogwood Diploma, is awarded upon successful completion of the graduation requirements. Students receiving the Dogwood Diploma are eligible to apply to post secondary institutions such as Simon Fraser University or the University of British Columbia, or they may continue at Columbia College in the University Transfer Program.
