Mount Royal College (MRC), one of Canada's leading undergraduate colleges, is an innovative, progressive, and student-centered institution offering a comprehensive range of applied baccalaureate and collaborative degree, diploma, university transfer, and certificate programs. Founded in 1910, Mount Royal serves more than 11,000 credit students plus thousands more learners through the world-renowned Conservatory, International Education, and Continuing Education courses at its three campuses each year. A multi-phase $150 million expansion now underway will add 2,250 new student spaces by fall 2003 and eventually double the number of students MRC can accommodate.

Mount Royal College students benefit from small class sizes and the individual attention provided by highly skilled instructors. An extensive curriculum allows students to prepare for a wide variety of career areas in diploma, certificate, or applied degree programs and/or begin a university degree that they can complete at another institution. Mount Royal College also offers a world-class English Language program through International Education serving 3,000 students per year.

Leading edge applied degree programs, which include Business and Entrepreneurship, Communications, Industrial Ecology, Interior Design, and Nonprofit Studies, provide graduates with practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge. Applied degree programs integrate six semesters of course work and two semesters of paid work experience. MRC also offers Bachelor of Nursing and Bachelor of Arts programs through a partnership with Athabasca University. Agreements with institutions throughout the U.S., Latin America, and Asia provide opportunities for student and faculty exchanges.

University Transfer
If you want a university degree, you can complete the first year or two of your degree program at Mount Royal College. The College offers small class sizes, access to highly qualified instructors, support when you need it and affordable tuition. Our seven university transfer programs are designed to prepare you for transfer to selected degree granting institutions. You are encouraged to contact the institution of your choice to clarify and confirm admission requirements and transfer credit regulations. Certificates
Certificate programs take less time to complete than diploma programs and offer more flexibility. Typically one year in length, certificates can be completed part-time over several semesters or academic years. Some certificate programs are only open to applicants already working in certain fields and are designed to help you upgrade your skills and provide formal recognition of your abilities. Others serve as preparation for immediate employment in a new career. Diplomas
Mount Royal College\'s diploma programs are designed to provide you with both the theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to enter the work force. In some cases diploma programs may be used as a stepping-stone into a degree program at another institution. Diploma programs typically involve full-time studies over a two-year period and focus on career preparation for specific fields or industries. Applied Degrees

English Language Program
English Language Programs Mount Royal College’s Languages Institute has earned an international reputation for excellence. Our experienced instructors help students improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. English as a Second Language (ESL) ESL Preparation and ESL Levels 2 to 4 focus on listening and speaking skills useful inside and outside the classroom. We will help you to express yourself in writing and improve your reading in English. You will also learn grammar, and to improve your accuracy in speaking and writing. Starting in ESL 4, students can take a variety of high school subjects, college level courses or university transfer courses. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) EAP Levels 1 to 4 make up a non-credit academic preparation program. This program is for students who need to improve their English skills before entering university, college or technical school. We focus on academic reading and writing as well as more advanced grammar. We also teach listening and speaking skills useful in an academic setting. Students will regularly use computers for writing assignments. Graduates of Level 4 in the EAP program satisfy the language proficiency requirement for diploma, university transfer and applied degree programs at Mount Royal College. The English Language program has three, twelve-week terms a year which begin in September, January, and April. International students can apply for any of these terms by completing the English Language program application form. You must include full tuition payment. The Languages Institute also provides homestay and airport pickup service.
