Health Care Services and Sciences
Are you curious about the human body and what we can do to stay healthy? Do diseases and epidemics fascinate you? Do you care about people? Are you sympathetic to other’s needs? Are you an intelligent individual who can think on your feet during a crisis and deal with stressful situations? If you have answered yes to any of these questions you may have what it takes to be a healthcare practitioner. So why not study Health Sciences in Canada?
For many the subject of Health Science conjures images of doctors, nurses and hospitals; however, Health Science encompasses a wide variety of healthcare subjects. Students can study to be x-ray technologists, physiotherapists, exercise instructors, holistic and alternative healers, pharmacists or public health practitioners. Graduates work in every facet of healthcare, from preventative medicine to encouraging healthy living practices to helping to diagnose and treat illness, to assisting with a patient’s recovery. They work not only in hospitals and heath clinics, but also in laboratories, community centres, schools and government and corporate offices.
Canadian schools offer a wide variety of Health Science and Technology programs including courses in Occupational Health and Safety, Radiation Therapy, international healthcare initiatives and population health as well as a wide variety of Medical Imaging Technologies programs including Sonography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging.

Macleod, Charles Best and James Collip, who are pivotal in the discovery of insulin; Dr. Michael Smith, the 1993 Nobel Prize winner in Chemistry, and Dr. Barbara Bain, the inventor of the Bone Marrow Compatibility Test. It is a leader in healthcare innovation and a natural choice for anyone interested in studying Health Sciences and Technology.
