University, college, vocational, secondary and language programs serve different goals. A familiar school name does not establish whether a particular campus or program fits your project.
Founded in 1839, Mount Allison University can boast many decades of excellence and has been ranked the #1 undergraduate university in Canada for the last ten years by Maclean's Magazine. Mount A offers 51 undergraduate degree programs, including 32 interdisciplinary and pre-professional programs, as well as Masters degrees in Biology and Chemistry. Our University offers Bachelor's degrees in Arts, Science, Fine Arts, Music and Commerce.
Mount Allison has some of the best faculty in the country, which is attested to by the high number of teaching and research award recipients among our approximately 122 person faculty. Mount A has a controlled enrollment of approximately 2250 students, 6.3% of which are international students. This limited enrollment creates smaller class sizes and student-teacher ratios, which in turn fosters a more conducive learning environment. Mount A's small size also adds to the overall quality of campus life.
We strive to make Mount A the university of choice for students seeking an undergraduate education of exceptional quality. Mount Allison is an intimate and harmonious intellectual community, where administrators work with the faculty and staff to serve the students, promote research, encourage creativity - in short, what a great University is supposed to do.

The mission of the Department is to provide teaching, research and service activities responding to the needs of our clients: undergraduate students of commerce; private, governmental, non-profit, professional and entrepreneurial organizations; and the university and society in general. The Department uses innovative methods that integrate the major functional areas of business and draw on fields outside of business.
Our teaching equips graduates with the requisite knowledge and skills to assess management situations creatively and communicate their findings clearly. Much emphasis is placed on cases, projects, computer work and library assignments, and students make many class presentations and write reports and essays.
Research conducted by professors helps inform their teaching while producing new knowledge in fields of current concern, often using methods drawn from a variety of disciplines. Professors present the results of their research in classes, in seminars outside of class, in reports and publications, and to national and international professional or academic associations.
Commerce professors and students offer their services to university, academic, and professional bodies and to the wider community.

The Department of Music offers instruction leading to both the Bachelor of Music degree (B.Mus.) and the Bachelor of Arts in Music. The former is professionally oriented, whereas the latter (B.A. Major or Honours in Music) is designed for the student with more general interest in music. A Minor in music is available to students in any degree programme.
Studying music at university is a wonderfully enriching cultural experience. It\'s also a challenging educational one. University-trained musicians are expected to have much knowledge of their art. At Mount Allison we are committed to helping you reach the highest standards of today\'s professional musicians.
Bachelor of Fine ArtsHistorical record

The curriculum in fine arts leading to the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts is primarily intended to develop creative ability in drawing, painting, photography, printing, sculpture, and various combinations of these media. Courses in art history and seminars in contemporary art issues foster an understanding of art and visual culture from pre-historic time through the modern and post-modern periods.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programme requires 120 credit hours of study during four years of university work.
The majority of courses offered consist of studio work under individual supervision and include instruction in the principles of drawing and design and the use of various media.
The programme is designed with maximum flexibility, to allow student growth within his or her chosen field of study. There is a common first or foundation year followed by more flexibility in years two, three and four. Drawing is a required course in years one, two and three. Students will select courses from painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and open media during their second and third years. Fourth year studio courses are by tutorial and scheduled classes.
In addition to the studio classes, attention is given to the history of art, art criticism and theory through lecture and seminar courses which are designed to develop the students’ artistic judgement and ability to write and speak about works of art.
Academic electives, chosen in consultation with the programme advisor, are taken from other departments of the University. They are included in the curriculum with the aim of broadening the student’s understanding of the world, in the belief that the artist’s domain pertains to all aspects of human endeavour.
