Centennial College is Ontario’s first community college, established in 1966, primarily serving the eastern portion of the Greater Toronto Area through four campuses and six satellite locations. It has a record of exemplary teaching, innovative programming and extensive partnership building. Centennial is recognized as one of the most culturally diverse post-secondary institutions in Canada. Almost 100 ethnocultural groups are represented and 80 languages are spoken on campus. Centennial is committed to both broad public access and successful career education. It offers more than 90- diploma, certificate and degree programs on a full-time and continuing education basis in business, communication arts, community and consumer services, engineering technology, health and transportation. These career-oriented programs emphasize practical experience with laboratory learning, placements, as well as co-op education. Students also prepare for college and university through the General Arts and Science program and English language training. Centennial enrolled 12,500 full-time students and almost 30,000 part-time learners in 2003. Almost 600 business, industry, government and labour leaders serve on individual program advisory committees, keeping programs responsive and relevant to the needs of the employment market. Since its inaugural convocation in 1967, Centennial has honoured more than 83,000 graduates. Centennial is noted for business education, supported by numerous corporate partners. In 1997, the college established a call center training facility ¾ the first of its kind in Ontario. Building on its success, the School of Business launched its Centre for E-business and Network Technologies to orient students to business practices on the Internet and beyond. Centennial’s Centre for Creative Communications in East York is one of Canada’s best interactive multimedia training facilities. This content-driven, high-tech campus represents a $45-million investment in technology, including $17 million from the private sector. Renowned for its strong industry connections and ability to produce highly skilled graduates, the Centre was named one of Canada’s top new media schools by they editors of Shift magazine in 2002. The college operates the nation’s largest transportation training facility with more than $30 million worth of aircraft, vehicles and equipment on hand at Ashtonbee Campus. The highly innovative Modified Apprenticeship programs (MAPs) were created with partners Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd., General Motors of Canada, Honda Canada Inc., Toyota Canada Inc., Canadian Tire, Freightliner, and Volvo Trucks Canada. Students are educated on name-brand technology in world-class workshops and labs.

General Arts and Science
The General Arts and Science Program (GAS) is primarily designed to help you develop the academic skills required for college and university. The program provides four options which enable you to explore your interests, develop learning skills and gain knowledge in specific subject areas before entering your program of choice. 1. COLLEGE STREAM General Arts and Science - College Preparation options at Centennial College focus on your career options and personal development. All three options offer you the chance to explore your interests, develop your learning skills, and gain knowledge in specific subject areas before you enter your college program of choice. The three college preparation options are: -General Arts Option -Business Option -Science Option 2.UNIVERSITY STREAM This is a one- or two-year program designed to prepare students for admission to university Bachelor of Arts programs. The program is intended for students who: -want to prepare for the academic demands of university and defray some of the economic costs of university attendance; -do not possess the usual academic credentials needed to enter university; -may not have finished high school; -are not sure if university is the right choice for them.
Hospitality and Tourism Administration
This program is designed for people planning to build their futures in the tourism industry. Tourism is Canada’s largest employment sector and provides a diverse range of career opportunities. It boasts revenue in excess of $54 billion, from 90,000 different companies who employ over 1.3 million Canadians coast to coast. The Hospitality & Tourism Administration program prepares you for careers in any of the eight sectors of Tourism. -accommodation -food & beverage -events & conferences -adventure tourism & recreation -tourism services -transportation -travel trade -attractions The skills learned in this program are transferable anywhere in Canada and the world is at your feet. Our courses cover a full range of business practices in marketing, human resources, finance and industry operations – as applied to the entire hospitality and tourism field. You may choose electives in three areas for career-focused study: -Food and Beverage Operations -Hotel and Resort Operations -Travel and Tourism Operations You will gain valuable work experience through an individualized industry internship, designed to provide a practical foundation for your career. Many students on internship continue as full-time employees after graduation.
English Language Training
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL) Designed especially for international students, this program offers intensive ESL courses at a variety of lengths and levels. Courses emphasize all aspects of language: reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation and grammar. You will learn and practise using a wide range of resources, including computer-assisted language software. You will develop your knowledge of English grammar and increase your overall linguistic confidence in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Upon successful completion, you will be able to communicate and use English more effectively in work and life situations. ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSE (EAP) This two-semester program is for students of English as a second or additional language. English for Academic Purposes (EAP) will help improve your English skills so that you can enter and succeed in college programs - and your career. The program emphasizes grammar and a variety of study skills, including reading comprehension and effective writing. You will have an opportunity to use multimedia English as a second language software in our specially-equipped computer lab. This is not a beginner\'s program; it is for those who have already studied some English. Please consult Centennial\'s Part-time Studies Calendar for beginner programs. As part of this program, you will complete a college credit course. This can then be used for credit in any of Centennial College\'s full-time programs and at a number of other colleges and universities. You will study in a college environment and have access to all resources and services such as computer labs, counselling and libraries. The program includes field trips, group and team assignments, practical exercises and individualized faculty attention and guidance.
