Founded in 1963, Red Deer College has over 6,000 full and part-time students. Red Deer is a beautiful and safe city of 70,000 people. We're located directly between Calgary and Edmonton, only a little more than an hour away from two international airports. Red Deer is close enough to the Rocky Mountains for day trips to world class skiing, hiking, white water rafting and other outdoor activities. Red Deer College offers a broad range of university transfer, applied degree, diploma, career certificate and trades programs. The College also has several baccalaureate degree completion programs in collaboration with universities. The degree completion programs, through the University of Alberta, University of Calgary and Athabasca University, allow students to complete their entire degree while living in Red Deer. On-campus offerings include excellent programs in the health services sector, an applied degree in Motion Picture Arts, and high quality university transfer and degree completion programs in the Humanities and Social Sciences, Education, Commerce and Science. The Arts Centre is a state-of-the-art facility that includes the Main Stage, a 575 seat theatre/concert hall. Motion Picture Arts, Theatre Studies, Music, and Costume Cutting are some of the programs found here. Red Deer College enjoys an unparalleled reputation for academic excellence and student satisfaction. Our classes are small. Most certificate and diploma courses have about 32 students. In the university transfer program, first year courses usually have between 60 and 80 students, while second to fourth year courses range from 8 to 25. The new Library Information Common is bigger and better than ever, providing access to a large collection of books, journals and audiovisual materials. The Library has 165 interactive computers and meeting space for student study groups.

University Transfer
If a University Degree is in your future, Red Deer College offers a variety of options and choices. Depending on the major, a University Transfer program allows you to take the first one or two years of studies at Red Deer College and then transfer to university to complete the degree. Take advantage of the small class sizes and individual attention in first and second year university transfer classes at the College. You won\'t have to compete for the instructor\'s attention and you won\'t get lost in the crowd. Courses transfer easily to university when you are ready. The College offers university transfer programs in several areas: Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Commerce Bachelor of Education Bachelor of Fine Art Bachelor of Kinesiology and Sport Studies Bachelor of Arts in Recreation, Tourism and Community Development Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Science in Engineering Bachelor of Science in Nursing Note: Some programs and courses may have material and special fees in addition to tuition.
Degree Completion
Red Deer College has partnerships with several universities to offer degree completion. The Degree Completion or Collaborative Programs give you the option of being admitted to university but completing the degree right here at Red Deer College. The College offers several degree completion and collaborative programs: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with specialization in English, Psychology, Sociology In collaboration with the University of Calgary Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) with specialization in Middle School In collaboration with the University of Alberta Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Applied Degree - Motion Picture Arts
An applied degree focuses on advanced study in career or technical fields. These are four year degrees with six semesters of formal instruction and two semesters of formally credited work experience. Red Deer College\'s Applied Degree in Motion Picture Arts prepares students for the rapidly growing motion picture, television, and multimedia industries. The Degree builds on a theatre studies diploma or two years of theatre studies. After two years of theatre studies, students complete a third year of intensive theory and hands-on instruction in motion picture arts. Students who complete the third year receive an Advanced Certificate in Production or Acting. Selected students may go on to complete a fourth year and receive an Applied Degree. The fourth year involves: * a credited mentored work experience (the equivalent of two four-month terms) or * the opportunity to gain credited work experience by completing a substantial motion picture project. The program has two streams: Production and Acting. Students take core film production and performance courses including: hands-on training in traditional film and leading edge digital production techniques, cinematography, sound, editing, and post-production; writing, directing, and producing; on-camera acting, scene study, and character development; and audition, portfolio, and career preparation. Diplomas
Red Deer College diploma programs combine quality classroom instruction with hands-on experience. The diploma programs are usually two years of full time study, preparing students for employment in a particular field. Some diploma programs are designed so that diploma graduates can continue on in a degree program at another educational institution. Red Deer College offers diploma programs in these areas: Business Administration - with four majors to choose from: Accounting, General, Information Technology and Marketing Computer Systems Technology Early Childhood Development Hospitality and Tourism Kinesiology and Sport Studies - with five majors to choose from: Sport Management, Coaching, Fitness and Health Promotion, General and Adapted Physical Education Legal Assistant Music Office Administration Rehabilitation Services Social Work Theatre Studies - Costume Cutting and Construction Theatre Studies - Performance Theatre Studies - Technology Visual Art Note: Some programs and courses may have material and special fees in addition to tuition.
Certificates
Red Deer College certificate programs emphasize the knowledge and skills needed to enter a particular field or career. The certificates are designed for students planning to begin employment soon after graduation. By combining quality classroom instruction with hands-on experience, students quickly gain the skills and abilities employers are looking for.
