Fue fundado en 1967 como uno de los Ontario Government Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology (Institutos de Tecnología y Artes Aplicadas del gobierno de Ontario) Conestoga College está ubicado en el Triángulo Tecnológico de Canadá, en la zona que comprende las ciudades de Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge y Guelph. Conestoga es suficientemente grande para ser excitante y ofrecerle a sus estudiantes opciones y oportunidades y suficientemente pequeño para que todos se sientan cómodos y como si estuvieran en su casa. Para ser aceptado en Conestoga College es necesario cumplir con los prerrequisitos necesarios para el programa de estudios elegido, usualmente el Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Grado 12) (Certificado de graduación de la preparatoria) o su equivalente. En el caso que el inglés no sea el idioma materno del estudiante, éste deberá demostrar evidencia de una calificación de toefl 550 (con un twe de 4.5) cuándo menos o un documento que demuestre una habilidad equivalente a este nivel en el idioma inglés. Si el estudiante no dispone de la habilidad ESL/idioma inglés para ingresar directamente a un programa de estudios de tiempo completo, el estudiante pudiera elegir ingresar al programa de estudios de inglés de Conestoga. Este programa se ha diseñado para ofrecer la posibilidad de mejoramiento del conocimiento del inglés necesario para ingresar al curso de estudios elegido por el estudiante en el Instituto. Conestoga está ubicado en una de las zonas naturales más bellas de Ontario, que presenta una preciosa mezcla de bosques, colinas ondulantes, naturaleza áspera y tierras de cultivo panorámicas. El campus principal, de 144 acres frondosos, está ubicado a 120 kilómetros al oeste de Toronto y 150 kilómetros de las Cataratas del Niágara y la frontera con los Estados Unidos. Esta región se ha convertido en un sitio muy atractivo para el visitante, ofreciendo buenas compras, comida y restaurantes excelentes, festivales y ferias multicolores, así como una gran herencia germánica. Programa de Ingles como Segundo Idioma (ESL)
Conestoga College ubicado en Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada le da la bienvenida a todos aquellos estudiantes internacionales interesados en integrarse a nuestro Programa de Ingles como Segundo Idioma. Este Programa ha sido diseñado para aquellos estudiantes internacionales que: -desean obtener un dominio del idioma que les permita ingresar a programas de estudio de tiempo completo en Conestoga College u otros institutos o universidades Canadienses El programa de estudios ESL/Inglés le suministrará al estudiante los beneficios de una introducción a los métodos de enseñanza y aprendizaje Canadienses, a la vez que el estudiante se familiarizará con la sociedad y costumbres Canadienses. La matriculación en los más de 60 programas de diplomados y de certificado de Conestoga exige que se cumpla con los prerrequisitos necesarios para el programa de estudios elegido, así como una calificación toefl de 550 (con un twe de 4.5) o un documento que demuestre una habilidad equivalente a este nivel en el idioma inglés. Aquellos estudiantes que no dispongan de la habilidad requerida en el idioma inglés encontrarán que el programa de Ingles como Segundo Idioma será el mejor método para obtener la habilidad necesaria. Cada estudiante que no demuestre una calificación toefl de 550 (con un twe de 4.5) o una certificación equivalente, será sujeto a un examen a su arribo al Instituto, y según los resultados y en consulta con un asesor académico, será ubicado en el nivel de iniciación adecuado del programa de estudios de ESL/idioma inglés. Se dispone de cuatro niveles de estudio. Los primeros dos niveles del programa de estudios ESL/idioma inglés comunicación, gramática, conversación, cubrirán comprensión auditiva y habilidades de escritura y lectura. En los niveles 3 y 4 se estudiarán habilidades de escritura y lectura, audición académica gramática de comunicaciones y la toma de notas. Una vez que haya concluido el nivel 4 satisfactoriamente, el estudiante habrá logrado cumplir con los requerimientos de idioma inglés necesarios para los programas del Instituto. Los estudiantes podrán ingresar al programa de estudios ESL/idioma Inglés en Enero, Mayo o Septiembre.

The others specialize in Financial Planning, Management Studies, Marketing and Materials Management. All Conestoga Business Administration programs, and the two year General Business program, share a similar first year curriculum, which not only provides you with a solid foundation in business, but also affords you the opportunity to transfer. As a student in this diploma program, you will study in the Centre for Business Education at the Doon Campus. You will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to start your career in an intermediate accounting position. Advanced financial accounting, managerial skills, and cost accounting systems and controls are emphasized. You will learn computer skills in up to date labs, gaining familiarity with current versions of software used in business software such as Microsoft Office Suite, ACCPAC Plus and ACCPAC Simply Accounting. FINANCIAL PLANNING This program provides the financial planning knowledge to prepare students for careers in the financial services sector, which includes banking, trust, insurance, investment funds, brokers and financial planning. Students are required to attempt the Canadian Securities Institute examinations. Successful completion of the Canadian Securities course, the Professional Financial Planning course, and the Wealth Management course with the Canadian Securities institute will allow students to acquire the professional designation F.M.A. (Financial Management Advisor). Successful completion of the program and successful completion of the three (3) Canadian Securities Institute courses will allow students to challenge the C.F.P. (Certified Financial Planner) final examination. MARKETING Marketing is a high-growth area. Marketing skills are applied daily in all areas - business, industry, government and service organizations. Business Administration - Marketing is one of five Business Administration programs at Conestoga College. The others specialize in Accounting, Financial Planning, Management Studies and Materials Management. All Conestoga Business Administration programs, and the two-year General Business program, share a similar first-year curriculum, which not only provides you with a solid foundation in business, but also affords you the opportunity to transfer. The program focuses on an object-oriented approach, effective communications, and the use of current technology. Support courses are provided which enhance the student\'s general knowledge in such areas as mathematics, accounting and communications. Problem solving skills are developed using a variety of computer languages. Web based hardware and software is explored in order to fully appreciate the complexities of the Internet world, with specific emphasis on web based applications. The development of computerized solutions to common business problems is stressed throughout the program. In the final semester, small groups design and implement an E-commerce Business Application for use by companies in the region. Graphic Design Study two-dimensional traditional design techniques, including letterform, typography, photography, and rendering and illustration. In year one students study traditional techniques and introduction to electronic design methods In years two and three traditional design skills are integrated with advanced computer design techniques. (McMaster) Effective January 1, 2005, a baccalaureate in nursing will be the minimum requirement for nursing registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Conestoga College, Mohawk College and McMaster University are working together to meet this new requirement. Through this consortium arrangement, Conestoga College offers new nursing curriculum leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N.) degree. Students accepted to Conestoga\'s Nursing Program will take all four years of study at the Doon Campus in Kitchener. Graduates of the program will receive a degree from McMaster University Paramedic In the Paramedic program, you will gain the skills and knowledge to practice emergency pre hospital medical care. As an integral member of the health care team assisting victims of accident or illness, safely transporting patients, and, if needed, continuing emergency treatment after arrival at a health care centre. At the College, clinical placement at a hospital and through field placement with an ambulance service, you will learn to assess emergency patient care needs, based on factors such as condition, severity, age, stress and anxiety. Effective communication skills are emphasized so that you will be able to function productively with patients, bystanders and other members of the health care team. You will also learn the rules and procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of an emergency vehicle. If you are unsure of your career goal, or would like to improve your academic level and chances of success prior to entering Paramedic, you may want to consider the General Arts and Science program Health Option. Note: this is an oversubscribed program and students living outside of Ontario are not eligible.
